WRRAP’s Annual Awards Event
WRRAP’s 2013 Awards Event honored Frances Kissling, retired president of Catholics for Choice, as WRRAP’s 2013 Person of the Year, and political activist Sandra Fluke, with WRRAP’s 2013 Political Activism award.
Frances Kissing is a long-time activist for women’s reproductive rights, an esteemed author and scholar, and was the president of Catholics for Choice for 25 years until her retirement in 2007. You should remember Sandra Fluke as the brave young student who testified before an all-male congressional committee on birth control, only to be personally and maliciously attacked by Rush Limbaugh on the airwaves for standing up for women across America.
WRRAP’s 2013 Awards were presented at our annual fundraising event on June 27th in Beverly Hills, CA. Both Frances and Sandra gave poignant, powerful speeches that stimulated an evening of invigorating, intelligent conversation about — and fundraising for — the extremely important issue of women’s reproductive health services.
Our applause goes out to Frances Kissling and Sandra Fluke for their awards and their continued hard work. Our sincerest thanks to them both, and to our most generous host, event sponsors, donors, volunteers, new supporters and to everyone who attended our event in support of WRRAP and in support of women across the United States.
We look forward to seeing you at our next event!
