This takes the cake! On Saturday, 28-May, the LA food scene was abuzz with the 2nd Cake Walk Fundraiser — a collaborative event brought to you by Gather for Good and RE:Her, and generously hosted by Redbird LA. The collaboration gathered some of the best LA pastry chefs and bakers, who crafted the most beautiful and delicious collection of cake you’ve ever seen, and auctioned them off to raise funds for women’s reproductive rights.

The decadent outdoor event featured over 30 whole cakes made by LA’s most talented bakers. For the cost of the admission ticket, guests enjoyed cakes available to win, slices of cake for purchase, craft cocktails, artisan coffee, a live DJ and more! All proceeds from the Cake Walk Fundraiser were donated to WRRAP and Plan C in support of women’s reproductive rights.

Gather For Good is a community organization of chefs, farmers, purveyors, winemakers and restaurant owners who are raising money for charities that work on immigration, reproductive rights, the environment and social justice. Stephanie Chen, co-founder, explains the impetus for Gather For Good: “We saw a real need for a platform for people in the food industry to be able to come together, bring their communities together, and really do some good.” Since their founding in 2017, they’ve helped raise over $200,000 for over 45 different charities.

Regarding Her or RE:Her is a national nonprofit on a mission to empower and advance all women identifying food and drink entrepreneurs by way of innovative platforms that upliftsHER businesses, supportsHER communities, and advocatesHER industries.
